In the beginning of April, Niels Shoe Meulman made an announcement on his Calligraffiti page, that it is changing from an Artist page to a Community.
The legendary artist Niels “Shoe” Meulman, also founder of the title calligraffiti, has chosen 25 international artists as ambassadors, who represent this artform, beginning at the exhibition at Affenfaust Gallery.
The Absolut Vodka bottle, once regarded an icon itself in the design community, gets new look by the brand consultancy The Brand Union, the industrial design agency No Picnic, along with independent design professionals—calligrapher Luca Barcellona and illustrator and engraver Martin Mörck.
1. Artist and graphic designer Niels ‘Shoe’ Meulman (Calligraffiti, Unruly Gallery) was invited by Converse to Bejing Design Week. The brand organized a ‘Street level typography exhibition‘ for which he was asked. Niels gave a lecture, but sure did some great artworks as well.
As from May 2011, the Unruly Gallery that was set up by artist Niels Shoe Meulman is up and running. It is a new online gallery that focuses on artists instead of movements and schools. Unruly is not only a gallery but also a web shop where t-shirts, works of art, books and silk scarves are sold. Art lovers can go to the gallery web shop unrulygallery.com to admire and buy work made by various international artists. In addition to the large selection of paintings, the new Calligraffiti t-shirts (for men and women), the Unruly silk scarves and various special books are available from the shop as well.
